On Schedule

I’m ready to begin the final corrections on the last chapter of the Robots of the Interregnum, so I am still on schedule. Barring unforeseen complications, I hope to have the book out next month, December 2018. It’s been a long haul, and I am glad to get to the end. I plan to begin book three sometime in the late winter of 2019. The first book took five years to write, and I am approaching the same for book two. I imagine book three will be more of the same.

Download Counts

I have adjusted the download counts to reflect the number of downloads (2078 in all – predominately in mobi format) that were made previous to my opening of this webpage. This was something I should have done right from the start, but couldn’t figure out how to do so at the time.

Homestretch

I’ve now completed corrections for chapters 1-10 of The Robots of the Interregnum. Tomorrow I will begin the final phase of work on the book: corrections on chapters 11-15 plus the epilogue; merging of my Word files into a single book with linkable chapter titles; conversion to Epub and Mobi Zip files; upload tests; and finally, upload to this webpage.

Without making any promises, my goal is to get this all done before the new year. If I cannot get there, I will post an explanation and a new date-of-completion estimation sometime in December.

Progress Report

I have finished the final corrections on the first third of The Robots of the Interregnum. It actually went quicker than I had anticipated. The second third will be a little slower because I need to write four EG blurbs from scratch; but even so, I’ve found myself pleasantly surprised about my rate of progress.

I will get back with my next progress report after I reach chapter eleven (or if I run into any unexpected delays).

First Draft

I’ve now completed the first draft of The Robots of the Interregnum. After a brief respite (Mallorca) I will begin work on the final version of the book. This will consist of rewriting each chapter, and then going over them a final time to root out syntax, grammar, and spelling errors. I hope that what I learned from my self-editing of Foundation and Second Empire can be put to good use.

Besides rewriting and editing I have a few minor, but critical, additions I want to make to the middle chapters of the book. When the final version is completed, I will prepare the book for epub and mobi downloadable formats and put them up on this webpage. The book will be, as promised, free of charge.

I don’t know how long this will take. My guess is between nine and twelve months. I will however keep posting my progress. Since the book is 15 chapters (plus an epilogue) I will post in thirds (or perhaps in fifths if it is really dragging out).

One Year Later

I was somewhat discouraged to see that a whole year has passed since my last post. I haven’t been idle, though. I have a writing schedule (such as it is) and have managed to stick to it through thick and thin. I’ve just completed chapter 13 of The Robots of the Interregnum which leaves me with two chapters to go. The last two chapters take place on Kalgan (14) and Terminus (15). At the rate I am writing, they should take about four months apiece. Then I will start rewriting and editing. There will be a good deal of consistency editing (for lack of a better term) plus I am planning a few minor in-chapter additions. Rewriting and editing will, I hope, take me around nine months. After this, I will need about a month to prep the book for e-book formats and then I’ll put it up (FOC) on this website.

I won’t wait too long to start on book number 3 (which I thought to entitle Beyond Foundation, until the Star Trek franchise beat me to the punch). I have high hopes that I can start to write at a faster clip by then. This October I will make a (really tough) decision on whether to continue working full-time (for two years), switch over to part-time, or stop working altogether. As they say in Denmark: I have seven minds on the matter.

Two-thirds

I’ve completed ten chapters of The Robots of the Interregnum and I am well into chapter 11. The book is going to need a couple of rewrites when I get done so it is hard to predict exactly when I will finish it and get it posted (on this website). The last five chapters are mapped out (pretty much).  After that it will be on to Book number 3 and the conclusion of the story.  I will continue to update my progress as I go along.

Progress update

I’ve now completed eight chapters of Robots of the Interregnum. I plan to write 15 chapters in all, and so far the schedule is going along pretty much as planned. I will continue to post my progress as it develops.

Spam Filter

I had to add a spam filter to the page. I was getting between 15-20 robo-spams every day. If you have trouble posting a comment because of the filter, please send a quick email to the administrator at: fft@ibmjob.dk
